This year marks the fifth anniversary of StringTime In the Smokies, an annual bluegrass event celebrating American music. The event, held at Patriot Park, will include performances by Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper, The SteelDrivers and many more. Admission is free and food and beverages vendors will be on site.
Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper consists of four stand out musicians in the bluegrass and field and were chosen best instrumental band in 2007 and 2008 by the International Bluegrass Music Association. Michael Cleveland, one of the premier bluegrass fiddle players of his generation has played alongside Allison Krauss, Vince Gill, Redline and many others. Having been voted fiddle player of the year six times, and joined by Jesse Brock, Marshall Wilborn, and Jessie Baker, Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper are one act not to be missed at this years StringTime in the Smokies.
Other activities include jam sessions that will start after 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. So be sure to bring along your own instruments and get in on all the fun.
